The Last Course draws on the European ritual of finishing a meal with coffee, extending time at the table after dessert into conversation and pause. A hand pours coffee from a percolator into two small espresso cups, held mid-gesture, the moment suspended as if time has slowed. The act sits quietly between preparation and farewell, marking a final step that lingers rather than concludes.

Behind this, an Italian courtyard frames a long table. Two chairs remain empty, positioned as an invitation within an otherwise gathered scene. The setting holds both presence and absence, where the table suggests continuation beyond what is shown.

The Last Course sits within this in-between space, where dining becomes less about ending and more about staying a little longer.
