Original Artwork by Alexandra Trovato
La Vita Lenta (the slow life)draws on Italian café culture, where slow living is shaped through daily ritual rather than urgency. It reflects a desire for a life paced by presence, habit, and shared time.
Within the composition, a barista prepares coffee behind the counter, absorbed in the steady rhythm of work. Outside, an elderly man sits smoking a cigarette, lingering in a familiar pause where smoking becomes waiting, reflection, and quiet social exchange. He appears unhurried, settled into the moment as the café continues around him.
Though the two figures do not interact directly, they exist in parallel, connected through routine and the shared atmosphere of the space. The café becomes a meeting point between movement and stillness, labour and rest, solitude and belonging.
La Vita Lenta reflects how everyday gestures, making coffee, sitting, waiting, become small acts of meaning. It considers slowness not as escape, but as a way of living with intention and presence.
